The Coonley Playhouse is located in Riverside, IL near the Coonley Residence. It was completed in 1912. The windows are considered by some to be Wright’s finest. The glass is flashed glass (two layers of glass, a colored layer on a layer of white opal). The colors are solid primary colors and the came is flat zinc. Wright referred to the windows as a “Kinder-Symphony”. Most people think of a parade looking at the windows with all of the balloons, confetti and flags. The large triptych can be seen at the Metropolitan Museum in New York and a small triptych can be seen at the Art Institute in Chicago. The windows are considered great works of art.
