Hollyhock House is located on Olive Hill in the City of Los Angeles, CA. The house was built for Aileen Barnsdall and work stopped on the house in 1921. The windows had flat zinc came with a copper-bronze patina. The came was very heavy, 1” wide in places. There were five colors of glass used in the windows, never more than one color and white in any one room. Purple, Violet, green, gray/green cathedral and white opal were the colors used. The windows with the 30 – 60 degree triangles were similar (but more subtle) to the windows designed for Midway Gardens. Wright referred to these windows as “Dancing Glass”. The house is under extensive renovation and will be closed to the public through the year 2003.
